Ferroli F30 problems

Hi I have a Ferroli F30 boiler that was working fine but suddenly the pressure started rising above 2bar whenever the central heating kicked in this was followed by a series of bangs and the pressure dropping back down to just above 1 bar. I called out a heating guy to take a look and the lead from the circuit board to the pump was melted at the pump connection so he advised a replacement boiler. This was fitted yesterday and all was good for about 20mins until it tripped the RCCB. The heating guy told me to get an electrician who has diagnosed a fault with the pump. With the CH off the boiler works fine providing hot water and does not trip but as soon as you turn the heating temp dial it trips straight away, also the digital clock is now blank. Any ideas? Having spent £325 for supply and fit of new pump I am not sure where I go from here.

The advice you have been given is incorrect. If the appliance produced hot water then the pump was working. I would suspect there is a fault on the appliances PCB but a site visit is required to find out exactly what is causing this.
Because the pressure has been erratic, i suspect that the expansion vessel may need recharging or replacing. The elevated pressure described could lead to internal leaks (as well as safety valve discharging) and some of the leaking water could have caused the electrical faults. Again, a site visit would get to the bottom of this.

If you have a room stat check that for dodgy connection or a malfunction with the actual stat itself. Seeing as it only happens with the heating on that would be a good place to start.

Hello

Sound like you need a heating engineer that knows what he's doing , you'll find someone component on this site , your current engineers has fixed the problem but has given no thought to what caused it , with regards to clock if it has a blank screen I would imagine this was damaged with the power surge which caused the boiler wiring shorting out , sound like the problem your having is a control wiring issue

I wouldn't say it was your pump as it works on hot water ,, I would say without looking that's the PCB is damaged,,
Not an economical repair if it is .. sorry
Pressure vessel should have been checked

Hi this sounds like a wiring fault and there is a short somewhere in the boiler. By the sounds of it a replacement boiler wasn't necessary, the expansion vessel needed pumping up or replacing and the wire replacing.
