Q:

What's causing my Combi Boiler creating dark marks on inside tiles?

So I've just noticed today that a Combi boiler that I've had since we bought the house many years ago has a some what black stain above the boiler that has stained the tiles, if you can message me I can send you a picture. A couple of years ago we were have trouble with the boiler constantly blowing out but it was serviced and the company struggled to find parts but eventually did. The boiler is often loud and creates gurgling noises etc, we have a monoxide alarm but I'm worried about the thing blowing up! Please help me in understanding why these stains have occurred, again message me for the picture

Your appliance appears to be in a dangerous condition and you should stop using it immediately and call in a qualified Gas Safe Registered heating engineer to make the situation safe and provide you with advice on how to proceed.
It is important that you understand old and unmaintained gas appliances can be dangerous and a threat to human and animal life.

the stains could be heat discolouration or they could be fumes, as with other replies i would switch off and have inspected by a qualified engineer

Agree as per other post you need to turn off the boiler and contact your local gas safe engineer and not to use.

Agree with all the others. Stop using boiler and get a Gas Safe Registered Engineer to come and test it.

I agree with everyone else's answers. Turn off boiler and do not use until it has been checked over by a gas safe registered engineer.

I would recommend you get a local engineer to attend and carry out necessary tests, pictures can only let us see the outside of boiler and we would need to see inside aswell, flue gas analyser test will answer a lot of questions.
Turn your boiler off and get it tested asap, a carbon monoxide alarm is not a safety device and is only a warning device which could be defect and could be positioned in wrong place.

I would agree with the previous recommendations as black discolouration would usually indicate a leak on your flue. This is potentially life threatening and should be investigated before the boiler is used anymore.

Please send me a picture so I can see, but it sounds very much like your boiler is spilling products of Combustion, which is dangerous.
In which case you need to stop using it and get it looked at immediately by a gas safe registered engineer.
Hope this helps, let me know if I can be of any further assistance.

Could be heat streaks, but then again could spillage from the boiler. Never assume anything, I would recommend you DO NOT use the appliance until it is checked out buy a Gas Safe Registered engineer.
