How high off the ground should plug sockets be? Should this be different for elderly people?

Hi, as the other guys have said all sockets and switches should be fitted between 450mm to 1200mm, I installed socket outlets a while ago in some sheltered housing flats for the elderly and disabled and these were fitted at 750mm as this was the designer and owners specification.
You can however install your sockets etc at a height of your choice and if this does not co inside with the regs your installer should high light this on the EIC installation cert as a deviation to the regulations to cover himself and reason why.

In new builds accessories should be a minimum of 450mm and a maximum of 1200mm from floor level. Sockets and switches can go at any height within those measurements, but switches are usually sited at the upper height and sockets at the lower height unless being installed specifically for the elderly or disabled. In older properties and extensions to older properties there is no specific height requirement and can be installed at the same height as existing accessories for uniformity.

The bottom of the socket should be 450mm or 18" off the floor, and the top should be 1200mm 4' off the floor. This applies to new installations but is good practise for all work
